SleuthGear ITrail GPS Logger Reviews
As a concerned parent, a device like the SleuthGear iTrail GPS Logger can be used at the office or home. We will show you the good and the bad about GPS vehicle loggers.
GPS Loggers are able to monitor the movement of a vehicle or person, including the speed they drove, and the duration of each stop, after the fact. Unlike a GPS Tracker, which can show a vehicles location in real-time, you must get the logger from the vehicle, and and upload the info to your PC.
One of the main advantages of a GPS Logger are no additional fees. Once you purchase the logger, you pay no more fees, plus a weatherproof case, which allows you to easily attach to the underside of a car or truck. Unlike a GPS Tracker, which will require a monthly subscription, like a mobile phone, and that can average $50 a month. If you have to know the location of a vehicle at all times, for urgent deliveries, a GPS tracker is what you need. If it’s not important to know the minute-by-minute movement of a vehicle, and you can wait until it comes back, a GPS logger will save you hundreds of dollars each year.
The iTrail works with the network of GPS satellites circling the Earth to always pinpoint its location. Route information is stored in memory until you upload to your computer. When you are ready to view the route the vehicle took, upload the data to your PC, and and view on the included free software.
With Google Maps integration, the included software will show the route the vehicle took on a 3D map. Every stop is marked, so you can see how long they stayed at each location..
The iTrail could not be simpler to set up. After you charge up the iTrail, then set it outside so the satellites can read it.
The tracker can be placed inside a vehicle, or pick-up an optional weatherproof magnetic case to attach it to the under side of the vehicle. When you are finished, remove the tracker and connect it to your PC through the USB port.
Launch the included software, and you will be able to download the entire route the vehicle has taken since the last download.
GPS Loggers are great for homeowners to monitor family members, so a spouse is not in the wrong part of town.
Here are the good and bad points of the iTrail
Pros:
-Low price
-No monthly fees
-Simple to operate
-See exactly where a vehicle goes
Great for recording your vacations
Cons:
-No real-time tracking
-No remote monitoring
If real-time location is not important, a device like the SleuthGear iTrail GPS Logger will give you all the information you need, without breaking the bank.

Introducing the SleuthGear iTrail. A passive GPS logger, simply place the small iTrail unit wherever you like – your car, child’s backpack, virtually anywhere! At only 1.5″x1.5″ small, the logger records location, speed, time, and displays this infor

Here’s a look at how you can choose the right one for your individual use. Always keep in mind that no review will be completely accurate, so an overview of several reviews of the same item would be the most beneficial way to decide which unit should find its way onto your dashboard.
The best car GPS units are packed with essential features such as Bluetooth, text-to-speech functions and accurate speech recognition, clear graphics and accurate directional capabilities. Garmin 550t- Best GPS Unit
Owning a Colorado 400t GPS for quite some time. I thought it was time to try out a Garmin Oregon 550t. Garmin gets a lot of good reviews on their GPS units, so I decided to give the 550t a go. Needless to say, “I love it!” Not to say that there was anything wrong with my Colorado, it has been good to me. The Garmin 550t is a bit expensive, but well worth the money. The topo maps on both the GPS systems are quite similar, but that is where it ends.
I have not had any problems since I have been using the Garmin 550t. The visibility is quite clear in sunlight, which seems to be an issue in other reviews. The Garmin 550t has some great features which is why Garmin seems to stand out as the leader, always moving forward to continue developing the best GPS units available.
The most impressive feature on the Garmin 550t hand held GPS is that it has a touchscreen 3.2 mega pixel digital camera. One less item that I need to take with me when I am traveling outdoors. It has a 4x zoom lens. Meaning, that I can capture any image at any place I visit. If I want to return to that spot at any time it will literally navigate me back to that very same position.
Another great feature, which is a really nice option to have is the Sight’N Go. Sometimes when you are out exploring, you may find yourself in a bit of trouble, simply by aiming the compass at any point, the Garmin 550t will plot out a route to safely get you to your destination.
There is no doubt that Garmin makes the best GPS units. I am glad that I went the extra mile by purchasing the Garmin 550t.
